Japan

Day off!

It’s sunday ! Nico and his colleague are finally off work but it’s still raining a bit…
We decided to go to the Kawaguchiko lake for a walk anyway.

We leave from Fujikyu highland station, the trip costs 170 yen per person for 1 stop. Kawaguchiko station is less than one kilometer from the lake. We go down there.

Hungry, we look for a restaurant still open. We stop in the only restaurant which is still ready to accept us, and we take a good soup. A delicious soup. To eat in less than 10min!

Coming out of there, we headed to the left of the lake. We walked along the shore, enjoying the scenery under a light rain. The view of the surrounding mountains dominated by the heavy stormy sky is just sumptuous.

Mount Fuji, in spite of itself, is still hidden behind its curtain of fog and clouds. This does not prevent us from enjoying this splendid dark view of the lake.

A route of about 6km from and to Kawaguchiko station. We passed by the Tatamiiwa spot, 100 m of rocks formed by lava flows of the last eruption of Mount Fuji, which came out of the lake directly. It was 1000 years ago.

We go around the Oike park. Normally, it is a splendid point of view of the sacred mountain.

We pass under the bridge and we reach the Yagizaki park and its turret, the Rokkakudo which, a part of the year, is impossible to reach by foot because the path which goes from the park to the turret is submerged by water.
This park is not very frequented but seems to be the best photo spot with the volcano in the background.

An eagle prowls around, it seems to be its hunting ground.

There are fields of lavender in the vicinity. It must be beautiful to see the volcano in the background of this field. It’s like being in Provence!

We finish our walk at the café of the Yuki Atae Museum, because the flower garden attracted us and we had to take a break before taking the train back to the hotel.

In the evening, we tried a shabu shabu and sushi restaurant that we found on the way to Fujikyu highland station. A real delight for the palate.

Your devoted Ninve,
