The Final Moments in Martinique
Two Crazy Days of Jet-Skiing in Martinique: A Blend of History and Thrills
Who would have thought that my last few days in Martinique would be so full of excitement?Accompanied by Michigan, a new friend I met there, I experienced two unforgettable days, riding the waves and exploring new places.
Day 1: Les Trois-Îlets, a historical getaway
Our first jet-ski outing took us to the famous Trois-Îlets. At the helm of our watercraft, we cruised through the turquoise waters, exploring these islets steeped in history. The sun caressing our skin, the wind in our hair, and the feeling of freedom swept us away. Each island has its own past—a story that Michigan, who’s passionate about local history, was happy to share with me. I was particularly fascinated by the volcanic formation of the islets in the bay.

Day 2: Rocher du Diamant, a Thrilling Adventure
On the second day, we took on a major challenge: reaching Rocher du Diamant by jet ski.
Le Rocher du Diamant is an iconic landmark in Martinique, and approaching it by jet ski is an unforgettable experience. An adventure full of thrills and discoveries.

We were meeting up with Michigan and a friend. They were supposed to pick us up at Anse à l’Ane Beach.

You have to understand that people in Martinique have absolutely no concept of time, and since they were taking their time getting there, we went for a walk through the wooded area near the beach, discovering remnants of a bygone era and some of the most luxurious hotels in the area.

It was past noon when the guys finally showed up! (They admitted that one of the jet skis had broken down on the way and they had to tow it back to the port to get a replacement.) What a way to kick off this new adventure!
Before reaching the rock, we stopped to explore a crevice in the rock that’s home to a colony of bats.

The swell was heavy, crashing over our boat with impressive force. The spray lashed our faces, adding a rush of adrenaline to our adventure. But the thrill of the unknown spurred us on. Once we got close to the rock, I was awestruck by this unexpected sight.

Diamond Rock: A Natural Gem
Diamond Rock is a volcanic monolith that rises majestically above the Caribbean Sea. Its name comes from a legend claiming that diamonds were discovered deep within it. Although this legend is unfounded, the rock remains a natural treasure nonetheless.

Approaching by Jet Ski: Thrills Guaranteed
Approaching Diamond Rock by jet ski is a unique experience that allowed us to admire this giant of nature from every angle. Thrills are guaranteed: the wind in your hair, the speed, and the sense of freedom that comes with riding a jet ski.

The swell: a challenge to overcome
One of the challenges of this excursion is the swell, which can be particularly strong, even in good weather. The waves can toss the jet ski about, causing us to be thrown forward or plunge through the waves with the jet ski. This makes approaching the rock more challenging. It’s therefore important to trust your instructor, who will guide you safely.
An Unforgettable Moment
Whether it’s to admire the view of the rock or simply to enjoy the feeling of freedom that comes with riding a jet ski, a tour around Rocher du Diamant is an experience I won’t soon forget!

To recover from the excitement and, above all, to rest—because, believe it or not, jet-skiing is actually quite exhausting—we took a well-deserved break on Anse Noire Beach before heading back to Anse à l’Ane. The black volcanic sand, warm beneath our feet, contrasted with the crystal-clear water that beckoned us to take a dip. We took advantage of this relaxing moment to have a drink and chat about our adventure.

These two days on the jet ski will remain etched in my memory.Between the thrills, the historical discoveries, and the beauty of the landscapes, I had an unforgettable experience. A big thank you to Michigan for sharing these moments with me!

On the way back, I reflect on everything I’ve experienced. This day in Martinique will stay with me forever. I discovered a magnificent island, rich in history and culture. And above all, I met warm and welcoming people who made me feel right at home.
Thank you to Sandra and her parents for welcoming me into their home and for everything they gave me! I had a wonderful Christmas and an unforgettable New Year’s.
Yours sincerely,
Ninve
See you soon for more adventures!
